Michael Beedy

Mike was born in Columbus, Ohio. After traveling around to different Marine Corps bases for the first five years of his life, his family settled in South Florida, where he graduated from Jupiter High School, and where his love of writing was born. Mike published several short stories in the school’s literary magazine and sat on the selection committee during his junior and senior years.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Mike enlisted in the Marine Corps after high school. During and after his military service, his writing was put on hold to pursue other professional endeavors. After 10+ years in the business world, Mike embarked on a career in law enforcement and corrections. Having served as the Training Lieutenant in a county jail and Team Leader for the Sheriff’s Office Bloodhound Tracking team, he is now a Lieutenant with one of the toughest state prisons in South Carolina. In addition to law enforcement work, Mike is also an Online Adjunct Instructor in Criminal Justice for a career college out of Buffalo, New York. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice.

Through all of this, Mike's love for writing never left. Over the years since high school, he continued writing but never took it too seriously, until recently. Mike loves research, history, and mystery, which has brought him back to writing. He finds himself haunted by the stories in his head and feels he has to get them out. Currently, Mike is working on his first novel–-a mystery thriller

In July 2016, Mike was invited by the Romance Writers Association Kiss of Death to present a workshop for their College of Felony & Intrigue (COFFIN) Workshop titled Inside Prisons, which was designed to give a real-world explanation and understanding of what life is REALLY like on the inside, because it is not what is seen on TV. The class was well received, and Mike has been invited to do another presentation in the future.
