Every November, members of the Pee Dee Writers batton down the hatches, rev up the engines, and set off on an adventure of epic proportions for NaNoWriMo. Fingers set fire to the keyboard as the race to 50k in 30 days begins.
We strive to create an environment of companionship and friendly competition to help each writer meet their goal for the month. 50k words may seem like a lot, but with the support of other WriMos, what seems impossible, turns into a fun (and addicting) quest!
In late October we have a Meet-n-Greet Kick Off party and online events to get the creativity flowing. Then in November, there are plenty of opportunities online and in person to meet up with other writers for dedicated writing time. Often goals are achieved through Word Wars and Word Sprints. Then in December, there will be a TGIO (Thank God It's Over) Party.
Although it seems counter-intuitive to get together to write, the bond created and the memories made are priceless.
